I started watching a program called "The Mindy Project" a few months back.
It became my new source of happiness, of course along with "New Girl".
Mindy Lahiri and Jessica Day are just two of the most lovely and quirky characters I have come across and I certainly am inspired by their beautiful yet realistic personalities.
Anyway, to my main point!
In "The Mindy Project" the main character often appears on her office floor, which indicates that she is feeling down or sad, or that something is wrong.
Now, yes, It may come across as completely and utterly weird and crazy, but I thought I would take some advice from her and try it out myself.
You know, I'm glad I did so.
I now lie or sit on the floor when I feel anxious, sad, frustrated or just not in a very good state.
My explanation as to why this helps me is that it makes me feel grounded and balanced.
It makes it easier to feel in one piece as apposed to feeling as if I am in lots of broken pieces.
We need balance in everything in order to think properly, and I suppose we have to have a neutral state of mind to think perfectly clearly.
I find that people often make decisions when they are at the peek of an emotion and it then turns out to be the wrong decision, or the person highly regrets it when they are feeling neutral again.
So this is why you need to find your neutral emotion and then come to decisions. Trust me, It all makes sense.
A perfect example is my wonderful Mother.
She went through a difficult break up with her husband, who was my step father.
Due to all of the high emotions she was feeling, such as anger, betrayal and sadness, she actually reached a point where she threw her wedding and engagement ring away.
Recently we had a conversation about making decisions at the right time and this popped up.
We spoke a lot about it and she explained how sad it makes her feel that she no longer has those rings to remember the marriage during it's good times, and that the only thing left is the photographs.
Unfortunately the man she was married to passed away in 2007 and this is why she is so regretful about throwing the rings away
After the break up, they became very good friends and were contemplating on getting back together but then he passed away; This of course made her realize why it is important to cherish moments of happiness and keep anything you can to remember them.
Since we chatted and brought up decision making whilst high on emotions, she has changed the way she see's things and has said a number of times to friends and family about it.
I feel flattered that she has taken my word and has put it into her own life to help herself and others around her.
We all make decisions at times when we are vulnerable and aren't thinking straight. It isn't a crime, and you aren't wrong or at all bad for doing this.Just remember the importance of happiness and think about the decisions you make and when is the best time for them to be made. If you're feeling too high on emotion have a little lie or a sit down on the floor, balance yourself. It works!
Smile :)
