Pampering is important :)

So we all know how it feels to be a bit run down right?
Feeling a bit icky, spotty, or even feeling bad about your hair?

Well every now and then we all deserve some pampering.
Go out, buy a nice face mask and hair mask or even make your own!
Then apply these things (Maybe even slices of cucumber for those beautiful eyes) Why not go full whack!?
After applying, just sit back and completely relax. Listen to your favourite music, read a good book, watch something happy or even just enjoy your surroundings whilst drinking your favourite drink and eating some lovely food.
Why not even grab a big tub, fill it with hot water and some lovely relaxing body wash and soak those tired feet in it. I must say, nothing beats these moments of pure relaxation
If you have a bath (Sadly I don't) fill it with the nicest bath salts and top it off with a bath bomb and bubbles and enjoy your favourite beverage there too..
This is exactly what we need sometimes, so do not be afraid to do this. I can guarantee you will feel a little better afterwards. Go on, try it. You deserve some you time.

Smile :)

The past is the past!

So, a lot of stuff has been getting on top of me lately, hence why I haven't posted in a while.
I have been stressed with everything and have been so busy with family matters, events and my bands gigs.
We actually won battle of the bands last night, so today after all the stress and since I go back tomorrow to college, I am chilling and updating my blog for you beautiful people.

So, I just want to say that with all of the bad things that I have come across the past couple of months, I just expected more bad constantly, because this is the way It seemed.
However after all of that negativity, a huge positive came out, and that was winning battle of the bands. Although it doesn't make you forget about the bad things, it helps to realise the lack of importance of them, and that the most important thing is the present.

Don't forget the past, but realise that it is the PAST, it should be placed behind you to learn from, not to keep worrying about..
Just focus on the Now and things will be okayy.

Smile :)

Learn to Accept compliments :) You deserve it!

So, almost everyone I know, including myself struggle to accept compliments from others.
Yes, It's hard to come to terms with good things about yourself.
You think all of your faults over weigh all of the wonderful things about yourself.
And you believe that all of your faults are on show for everyone to see.

Personally, when someone compliments me, I just pull a face or say something that completely dismisses it.
I don't like to just accept their compliment and say "Thank you". I think this is because in my mind, It's not true and I don't deserve it.
I think this is the reason others don't accept compliments too.
Either that or they may think that they will sound big headed if they reply with a thank you.

We should all learn to accept compliments from others.
We need to know the wonderful things about ourselves, and if we aren't going to tell ourselves that, then we deserve to hear it from others.

We see ourselves completely different to how others see us.
We see our faults, and the worst features. We think our foreheads are too big, we are too chubby, and just that everything is wrong about us.
When others see us as perfectly fine, just a normal person standing before them.

Treat yourself how you would treat a friend.
Would you be mean to your friends?
Would you tell them how they are too fat and need to lose weight?
Would you tell them they are ugly?
Would you tell them you hate their laugh?
No, so why would you treat yourself like this?

Think about it.
You are worth the compliments.
You deserve to feel wonderful.
Because you are.

Accept compliments and try and be nice to yourself.
Start with one compliment a day!

No. 3 : Shortest Post

Whenever you feel down, anxious or angry, use it productively.
Instead of sitting and sobbing the whole time, use some of it to release the emotion and use it in a good way.
Go for a run to release emotions, do some angry pushups, some angry squats or even go for a nice calm swim. It may not be for everyone, but it works for me!

Give it a go.

A small but meaningful post :)

Recently I have been feeling really self- Conscious.
I've been exercising and trying to help myself feel better any way possible.
I have found that exercise is helping me when I feel down or angry. It helps to release the negative energy I'm keeping inside.

Another way to feel better is in fact to look closely at your daily diet. See how certain foods make you feel. Personally I hate it when I have eaten too much, or something too stodgy, and afterwards have felt all full and bloated! So I have been selecting foods that make me feel refreshed. I have also started having less on my plate. This way it helps me cut down as well as feel better in myself.

Personally I have trouble feeling good about my body and face, but recently I discovered Zoella.
She recently made a beautiful video dedicated to the ways of changing your life for the better. It mentions a few different things to start doing to improve the way you feel. I took all of these things on board, including yoga, good skin care and healthy eating, and I must say, I do feel so much better in myself. I believe looking after yourself is so important to your quality of life.
Thank you Zoe for helping me, help myself!

Here is the video link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTexLfmr_TQ

Leave some comments on this post and let me know what you think after watching the video!

I also found a video a while back featuring four amazing youtubers speaking about "Ugly" and how you shouldn't feel ugly or bad about your appearance. It is a lovely, funny video and really touched my heart. Give it a watch, it is so lovely. I cried the first time I watched this!

Here is the video link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Em3PuXeD56w

Again, leave some comments on this post and let me know what you think of the video. I would love to hear if it has the same effect on other people as It did me.

So yes, a short and simple post, but with two amazing video's, both with good messages.

Being "conventionally beautiful".

Personally I strongly dislike what the media has done to our minds.
Ever since I could really understand about appearance and being attractive, I have doubted my beauty.
Since starting secondary school and during the first years it was evident that I was "The ugly nerd" within my class. I was the girl who never had a boyfriend, who was never asked to prom, who was never told I was "fit". In fact, I just got teased and bullied for my looks and style (and brains).

What bugs me is that the definition of beauty and being attractive is things like perfectly smooth skin, thin face, perfect bone structure, pouty lips, long flowing hair and a thin body.
I have also seen that a lot of people tend to focus on the whole Blonde hair and blue eyes kind of beauty.

The way the media have gone on about beauty, in my opinion, has had a very harsh effect on society. I mean, how many people do you know who dislike their appearance? Maybe you are one of those people. These days, we all feel the need to wear layers of make up and diet to fit in and look like those girls on the front cover of your favourite magazine, and the models on posters in shop windows.

I am one of these people who is very self conscious because of having to live up to the medias idea of beauty. Yes, I get upset a lot and get this sickly feeling when I'm out and about and I see someone who my male friends say is "fit". I mean, I'm 16 (nearly 17) and I haven't yet been in a relationship. I'm not conventionally beautiful (to the medias eyes - therefore,  societies eyes) and I'm small and not exactly thin. I try to feel better about how I look all time; I finally get to the point of confidence in appearance, and then I'm put down again by seeing how I'm supposed to look to fit in.

Whilst watching "Britain and Ireland's next top model" last year 2013. There was a girl named "Emma" on it. She was tall and thin, she wore rarely any makeup, had short blonde hair and had such a unique face. I thought she was beautiful. She was exactly what I wanted to see on there.
She had braces and had such a funny, quirky personality. What I loved most is that she spoke in such a funny accent. I was so glad that she got through to the real competition from the beginning. She actually got through to the last three (I think!). Even after being criticised because of her appearance all the way through it.
One sentence that Elle said to Emma was "You aren't as conventionally beautiful as other girls", in a negative way about why potentially she shouldn't go through. I was completely gob smacked at hearing this! I couldn't get it into my head why someone would actually say this to another person. I would have felt crushed if I was Emma.
Above are images of Emma from Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model.

This is just where I think it is all wrong. Everyone is beautiful. Why are there certain things we have to do and have, to make us attractive? Why is being thin made out to be the thing that makes you attractive? It doesn't make sense and is something that is stripping the confidence of a lot of people in society. The models in the magazines are photoshopped to fit the perfect image the media have made. Girls try their hardest to look like them and get disappointed when they can't. This is because it is impossible, some are modified by computer programs and are shaped and smoothed over.

Appreciate yourself and your natural beauty. It is something that is so difficult, yet you must learn to take pride in your appearance, no matter how you look. Everyone is beautiful, whether they are tall, small, slim, curvy, freckly or smooth. Natural Beauty is the best in my opinion. Yes, wear makeup to boost your confidence, but please avoid feeling "ugly" because of how the media says you should look. As Mindy Lahiri (From The Mindy project) said : "Sometimes you just have to put on lip gloss and pretend to be psyched". This is very true. I have lived by this advice for a long time!

The way I get through this self consciousness is to find inspirations and aspire to them. Admire their style and try it out. Find how they apply their beautiful eye shadow and try it out. Read up on their stories (guaranteed you will find they have felt how you feel when they were younger!).
I have a group of inspirations who I look to for fashion and advice, but I also make sure I am comfortable in myself and am staying true to who I am.
I use Pinterest to find wonderful fashion and inspirational quotes, highly recommended!
One website that gets me through the day is called "HelloGiggles.com". There are lots of women who write articles about tonnes of different things that teens and adult women love to read about. It is almost therapeutic! Their are articles on fashion, relationships, friendships and just problems that women face sometimes. I say give it a little look at if it's something that sounds like your cup of tea.

So yes. I probably rambled on a bit there...
But, still. It was all relevant, I hope!

You are beautiful, yes, you reading this.
Even if I don't know you. You are still beautiful.
Do not let anyone tell you otherwise, okay?

To the right is a picture of me strutting my stuff. Yes I am very self- conscious, but sometimes remember you have to "Put on Lip gloss and pretend to be psyched" ;)

List of rules when being my friend :)

So, it's not bad to have a list of things your friends should know right?
Literally, this thought just popped into mind and made so much sense. I sort of imagined it being me typing up a list of rules, printing a few copies out and handing them out to my friends....
In my opinion I think its a good idea, maybe not the part where you physically hand out a copy to someone. I mean, that's just patronising.
So, it made me think about the things that would be on my list of things.

Here are a few I thought of:
* Unlike normal people, I spell OK like this: "Okayy". If I write this to you, I'm not being sarcastic or rude. It is just the way I spell it.
* If you Come to my home unexpected, Do NOT expect me to look nice.
In fact, if you come to my home at all, do not expect a lot from my appearance. My home is the place where I can look crappy and no one will judge me. So please don't judge. You can also look crappy here if you like. I won't judge!
* Another one regarding my home. I have OCD and would kindly appreciate if you tried to keep my room and living room the way it was when you came in...(unless it was messy and you wanted to clean, that kind of works for me).
* I sing a lot and quote things. Do not judge me please, it helps me get through the day. I also laugh at many things, easily get the giggles, and can come out with some very silly sentences at times. I often forget I have company and will just say things that will make me sound awfully stupid ( I'm not though!).
* I don't like confrontation. I'm like a tiny, fragile puppy. Please take good care.
* Don't follow me into the bathroom or walk in whilst I'm inside without knocking please!
*Yes I am a vegan! Please don't start nasty rants about Me not getting enough protein.

So, what do you think?
Sometimes you could use things like this?
This post was mainly a funny one, but sometimes I genuinely think things like this could come in handy.

What would your list be?

The floor is my best friend...

I started watching a program called "The Mindy Project" a few months back.
It became my new source of happiness, of course along with "New Girl".
Mindy Lahiri and Jessica Day are just two of the most lovely and quirky characters I have come across and I certainly am inspired by their beautiful yet realistic personalities.

Anyway, to my main point!
In "The Mindy Project" the main character often appears on her office floor, which indicates that she is feeling down or sad, or that something is wrong.
Now, yes, It may come across as completely and utterly weird and crazy, but I thought I would take some advice from her and try it out myself.
You know, I'm glad I did so.
I now lie or sit on the floor when I feel anxious, sad, frustrated or just not in a very good state.

My explanation as to why this helps me is that it makes me feel grounded and balanced.
It makes it easier to feel in one piece as apposed to feeling as if I am in lots of broken pieces.
We need balance in everything in order to think properly, and I suppose we have to have a neutral state of mind to think perfectly clearly.

I find that people often make decisions when they are at the peek of an emotion and it then turns out to be the wrong decision, or the person highly regrets it when they are feeling neutral again.
So this is why you need to find your neutral emotion and then come to decisions. Trust me, It all makes sense.

A perfect example is my wonderful Mother.
She went through a difficult break up with her husband, who was my step father.
Due to all of the high emotions she was feeling, such as anger, betrayal and sadness, she actually reached a point where she threw her wedding and engagement ring away.
Recently we had a conversation about making decisions at the right time and this popped up.
We spoke a lot about it and she explained how sad it makes her feel that she no longer has those rings to remember the marriage during it's good times, and that the only thing left is the photographs.
Unfortunately the man she was married to passed away in 2007 and this is why she is so regretful about throwing the rings away
After the break up, they became very good friends and were contemplating on getting back together but then he passed away; This of course made her realize why it is important to cherish moments of happiness and keep anything you can to remember them.

Since we chatted and brought up decision making whilst high on emotions, she has changed the way she see's things and has said a number of times to friends and family about it.
I feel flattered that she has taken my word and has put it into her own life to help herself and others around her.

We all make decisions at times when we are vulnerable and aren't thinking straight. It isn't a crime, and you aren't wrong or at all bad for doing this.Just remember the importance of happiness and think about the decisions you make and when is the best time for them to be made. If you're feeling too high on emotion have a little lie or a sit down on the floor, balance yourself. It works!

Time to change?

Recently I began feeling very down in the dumps!
I'm sure we've all been here at one point or another, am I right?
When this happens, we can begin to feel sorry for ourselves and do certain things like stay in, eat comfort foods and just avoid everything and everyone. Due to my anxiety, this seemed the easiest way to go about my days and by far the least scary.
Although a small amount of this can heal you, too much can begin to make things worse.
I began to get used to these routines of staying in and glaring at my television, to the point where I forgot to even take care of myself; However I came to the realisation that I was digging myself a deeper hole, therefore decided to pick myself up.

The way I helped myself out of my routines was to face the problems I feared the most, even when it seemed impossible.
Situations are guaranteed to be better than you think they will be. Therefore going forward and getting through these anxious thoughts is something you should do. Who knows, you could miss out on something huge if you constantly choose to avoid things.
I found that doing this made me a stronger and much more Independent individual, one of the reasons I started this blog.
Another idea that sparked to mind was to find myself big inspirations and role models to aspire to.
Doing this almost guided me to helping myself feel better in the way I acted and my appearance.
I went out and bought myself some new makeup, hair dye and clothes and began a fresh start.
I parted with some of my old ways of life and opened new doors which benefited me more.

I found a new happiness that had awoken in me whilst following my new path in life.
I hope all who fall can help pick themselves back up again like I did. There are always small slips along the way, but you must know that we all have the strength to stand tall and become the best version of ourselves.

Find the place where you belong.

When I say "Find the place where you belong", I mean this in a few different ways:
*Literally finding a place where you belong, such as a certain city or country.
*A place of work/Education.
*A group of friends.
*A place where you feel comfortable, for example, A stage.
*Or even finding the right place for yourself in regards to the right state of mind and being in a good place mentally.

Below are some ways I have personally found where I belong.

Back in my younger years when I was slightly alternative, I visited the wonderful, quirky Camden.
The art, shops and atmosphere was exactly what I needed to rejuvenate my young mind.
With my converse and skinny jeans I fit right in.
Back then it was my perfect and ideal place!

A few years had passed and I'd changed slightly.
My anxiety had turned into extreme anxiety and I found it harder to do things.
My belonging to Birmingham had been weakening by the day and I felt an emptiness inside.
So for my birthday I decided to visit Brighton.
I'd heard so much about it and was so set that I'd move there when I was older; but I had to see it for myself!
What can I say? It was breathtaking. Well, I felt as though I could actually breathe better!
As soon as I stepped foot out of the car, I took the deepest breath of fresh air and immediately knew how much I loved this place.
I sat on the pebble beach watching over the sea and felt as if all of my anxiety and worries just drifted into the abyss, never to return.
I hadn't felt this at home for years. I knew this was where I belonged.
Ever since, I've been set on returning and one day will hopefully call it my home.

Personally, I believe that being somewhere you feel a belonging to will bring out the best in you; mentally, emotionally and even physically. You may even find your work ethic will increase.
If you are somewhere you love, surrounded by good people, your positivity will reach as high as the stars. My philosophy is, happiness and positivity are the most important things in life. So go find your happy place!

Find the place where you belong.

You're here for a reason. Believe it, Find that reason.

So, whether you believe this or not, In my eyes it is true.
You are here, on this earth, and you have been granted this thing we call life.
Yes, Okay, I will gladly admit it can be so, so difficult sometimes, and we all struggle to find hope in those times of darkness.
But let me tell you now, there is light in every dark situation. You just have to find it. No one else can do it for you. You have to learn to be strong and just hold on to get through it. I mean, the only way through it is to get through it. Simple as really.

It's so hard to be positive, I know.
But what is the point in being down and negative?
You may as well get up and get through it. Enjoy what you have.

I see things in a very different way after the death of my step dad and my best friend Lucy.
I make the most of what I have and I simply look at the situations I face and realise it will get better. But for things to get better, you have to want them to get better and only YOU have the power to do that!

No matter what situation you face or how hard it is, there is a way out of it. There is ALWAYS a way through it. So get up and find that way.
Ask your friends and family to help you find it. And once you find it, you can take those steps towards happiness. Things will start looking up. And if you become low and down again, get back up and fight back! You are strong and you can do it.
To everyone of you beautiful people reading this. I believe in every single one of you.
Please, for me, do not take the easy way out of things. Get up and fight your problems. Everything is going to be okay. Start believing that please.

Inspirations. Simple as that really!

So, we all have our inspirations in life.
A lot of my Inspirations have come from films or series I have watched, or bands that I listen to.
It's good having inspirations. It personally makes me really happy.
Everyday I will listen to one of my favourite bands, or I will watch one of my favourite TV shows, and just seeing the people on it almost gives me hope and something to aspire to! - As silly as that may sound.

I have recently started watching The Mindy Project! starring Mindy Kaling.
I loved Mindy anyway before watching this, as I own her book 'Is everyone hanging out without me (And other concerns)'. Which is just an amazing read.
I must say, she certainly is one of my biggest role models in life. She has a lovely personality, she is bubbly and funny and so, so talented! She isn't afraid to be herself and she promotes the fact that everyone is beautiful the way they are, and no one should want to change themselves just to please others or the media.
She shows that being curvy is a beautiful thing. I must say, she pulls off everything she wears and I wish I could do that! She is just overall a wonderful person.

This then brings me onto another strong female role model in my life.
Zooey Deschanel!
She is actually good friends with Mindy and I discovered Mindy through a site called HelloGiggles which is run by Zooey and two of her friends - Amazing website, I must say!
Zooey is the main character of one of my other favourite programmes, New Girl; Whenever I am down, this is one of my go to things.
Zooey, alike Mindy is a lovely, bubbly and funny person, and again so talented. She has such a positive outlook that I have taken on myself.

So, just to keep it short and simple, I will leave it at these two strong and beautiful women.
The point of this is for you to see that It's fine to have inspirations.
Find them and aspire to be like them if that's what makes you happy.
Because you all know that being happy is a very important thing to do.
So go now! And be HAPPY!!

Smile :)

Today, I will be someone else my friend!

So yes, a very weird title on this blog!

It was actually inspired by my friend Ellen.
This morning Ellen walked into the classroom which our Music Industry was being held in.
I greeted her and said how lovely her hair looked, as I haven't yet seen it tied back since she got her gorgeous bangs (Full fringe) put in.
She replied to me with that look. You know the one that your friend gives you when you compliment them and they just look as if to say "Ha, funny. No" - Yes that look!
She then followed this look with "Today I'm Dean Winchester.I'm not feeling like being myself so I thought I would be someone else".
For some reason I was shocked and so amazed by what she said! Hence the reason why you are reading this post!

I mean. It makes so much sense!
It's just like when you are a beginner performer, you like to 'be' someone else whilst performing so that you can be more confident. My other best friend Emma told me a similar story about when she goes onto stage, as she is an actress. Her teacher once told her that someone they knew pretended on stage that they were 'Beyonce' so that they could hide all the nervousness and rock their performance.
The thing is, I guess I love that we have that control. It's truly incredible that when we are feeling down in the dumps and really self conscious or we lack confidence, we can put our worries aside by being someone else for the time being.

I had my first performance the other day with my band and I decided to be someone else on stage. I decided to think and act as if I were 'Hayley Williams' (Vocalist of the band Paramore). She is one of my inspirations along with many more, but today I felt the need to put my nervous state into a new state of mind.

I guess these big stars that we see in our favourite movies or favourite bands have their own way of showing confidence. Maybe they put themselves into their role models shoes when they aren't feeling good. Maybe that's why they always seem great to us.
Maybe you should give it a go when you aren't feeling up for the day being nervous and anxious. Put yourself into someone else's shoes and see how it is; There's no harm in trying, Ay! and if it works just remember you have the power to be someone else whenever you need to be, and eventually I guess you will just gradually become confident with being yourself and that shield you wore from being another person will actually just become a permanent part of you.

Smile :)
